| Rice Rhapsody |

Having low expectations for this movie as it featured one major actor and many unknown cast from Singapore, the movie Rice Rhapsody turned out to be a pleasant viewing experience. Sylvia Chang (famous actress from Taiwan) plays a mother of 3 sons and Martin Yan (Yan can(not) cook) plays her love interest of sorts. This is a whimsical film that appeals. It speaks volumes on the issue of homosexuality and is approached with humour and candor. Sylvia Chang plays a recently divorced single mother dealing with her 2 openly gay sons and her effort at every attempt in keeping her youngest son from becoming one too. The movie was co-produced by Jackie Chan but the creator of the movie is a new Singapore director. The movie also has a central theme of Singapore food and the main highlight is a national dish in Singapore called 'Hainan Zi Fan' which is one of my favourite things to eat in the whole wide world. I was starving by the time by the DVD was over!
